The construction of scales is significantly easier than the construction of chords. Once you know the
root note, all you need is the sequence semi-tones, whole-tones and tri-tones (three notes) that make up the
scale.
The Ionian scale that has been explained so far has a sequence that looks like this:

Using this sequence we can start on any note and get the major scale starting on that note.
The rest of the scales in the Ultimate Chord Book are either modes or other sequence variations. Modes
are the seven different sequences based on shifting the Ionian scale.

Ionian is also known as the Major scale and Aeolian is also known as the Minor scale.
